Consumer Unit Upgrade

A consumer unit upgrade involves replacing the existing electrical distribution board with a modern consumer unit that complies with current regulations. The consumer unit is a crucial component in a homes electrical system, responsible for distributing electricity to various circuits and ensuring safety. Some of the steps a consumer unit upgrade involves are:

-Replacement of the consumer unit: The outdated consumer unit is removed, and a new, modern one is installed in it’s place.

-Installation of RCD’s and surge protection: Residual Current Devices (RCD) are safety devices that instantly disconnect power in the event of a fault, reducing the risk of electric shock or fire. Surge Protection Devices (SPD) are also safety devices that are designed to safeguard electronic equipment by diverting excess voltage surges away. Both of these safety devices are incorporated in to the consumer unit.

-Labelling and identification: Each circuit in the consumer unit is clearly labelled to identify the corresponding area or appliance, making it easier for you to locate and address specific circuits.

Compliance with regulations: The upgrade ensures that the electrical system complies with current building regulations and safety standards. This is crucial for maintaining a safe and code-compliant home.
